Peace Panthers Girl's Volleyball

PEACE VOLLEYBALL
Goals and Objectives

  GOALS:
  •  To teach all the proper techniques and objectives to playing competitive volleyball — not pingpong.
  • To foster spirits of teamship, positive attitudes, and good sportmanship.
  • To build strength, flexibility, endurance, and control in our bodies through practice and proper warmup/exercise.
  • To give every girl game time, regardless of her current ability, that she may gain experience and enjoy the fruits of her hard labor (practice). Game time is not guaranteed to be equal.
  • Winning is optional--as long as we play well together as a team.

To meet these ends, I plan to have every 5th - 8th grade girl play in at least one game of every three-game, regular season match. During regular season play:
  • I will always have some more experienced girls on the court to provide stability and leadership. Therefore, one of the girls’ goals should be to become one of those leaders!
  • Practice time is one of the factors that determine court time during games. Players who work hard in practice and show positive attitudes and improvement will see more game time.
  • It is not my policy to substitute a player out for making a mistake. Mistakes are how we learn. However, if a player is making many mistakes that disrupt team play or if the player is becoming upset or frustrated, I will make a lineup change.
  •  I will sub a player out for a negative attitude or a lack of effort because these are not qualities this team wishes to encourage. Other, more motivated and positive players will be allowed to play instead.
  •    I might sub a player out because I need to sub in another player to get her some playing time. Unfortunately, we are only allowed six girls on the court at once!
  • In a pinch toward the end of a game, if I have used up all my time outs, I may choose to substitute a player to try to break the other team's concentration.  This decision is not directed toward one of our team players but for the good of the team as a whole.
