Peace Lutheran Preschool & Child Care
Program for 3- and 4-year-olds

Mrs. Kelli Dent– Preschool Director & Lead Teacher
Mrs. Toni Harkonen– Preschool Teacher Aide
Mrs. Laura Meyers– Preschool Teacher Aide

It is the mission of Peace Lutheran Preschool to partner with parents in their God-given responsibility of bringing up their child as a productive Christian citizen. This is done by providing a loving Christian environment that offers children developmentally-appropriate activities to grow in all areas of life. Children will have the opportunity to:
SPIRITUAL: pray regularly, hear God’s word through story and song, and learn about God’s plan of salvation
PHYSICAL: participate in movement activities, be involved in physical play, develop small-motor skills, and develop large-motor skills
SOCIAL: interact with other children, learn to share, acquire problem- solving skills, work together, and learn about the diverse world God made
EMOTIONAL: interact with Christian caregivers, learn to be kind to others, and enjoy themselves
COGNITIVE: learn shapes, colors, numbers, and letters, engage in pre-reading, pre-writing, science, and math activities

The goal of early childhood education of children is to embrace the child as he is today, and not just look at what he will become. The role of teacher is to observe the child and value him as the individual he is. Children should have the opportunity to learn through play, to explore their world, and to be cherished. Parents and community members contribute support to a child and his education. Knowledge for children is exciting! To learn new things and new connections each day is an awesome adventure!

The program at Peace Lutheran Preschool is “play based”. By providing a safe environment and basic structure, our program allows children to learn and develop by engaging their natural curiosity and their innate desire to interact with the world around them. Children are allowed to learn and develop at their own pace using materials and methods suited to their age, level of development, and individual needs.

Children, ages 3- and 4-years old, are combined in this developmentally appropriate program. Your child may attend a minimum of two days a week or a maximum of five days a week. Afternoon child care is also available.

“The knowledge and enthusiasm of the preschool teaching staff creates an environment where my child wants to be fully engaged. As a parent, and an Occupational Therapist who works with young children, I appreciate the sensory-based activities that complement this rich curriculum. My child looks forward to every day he gets to spend with his Peace family.”
